In this article, Skrillex discusses his favorite features of iZotope’s Ozone 9 mastering plugins. On March 27, 2013, Skrillex uploaded a video to his Vine page. Melodyne and a slew of other plug-ins are usually used to make all of my vocals sound strange. Skrillex discusses how he mashed up vocals in his music: I don’t have much time for voicing. The sound library Urban was used to create Prime Loops’ vocal sample “Ruffneck Bass.” Melodyne is used by Skrillex to process his vocals. Skrillex’s office is housed in a MacBook Pro equipped with Ableton Live, two monitors, and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 14 interface. In this video, Skrillex demonstrates how his MacBook Pro works in both live and studio settings. Three Vengeance samples are used in the main vocal sample of the song Right on Time from Vocal Essentials Vol.1. Despite this, he enjoys using Ableton Live as his primary software. Despite the complexity of the setup, it is a far more complicated set-up than what most average listeners would expect. Skrillex, like most top producers, does not only use one DAW.
